Welcome to the inaugural post on kategetsvocal.com! Here we will post relevant media links, industry news and tips on selecting voice over talent.

Voice Over Talent Searches — Overwhelmed Anyone?

Choosing the best voice over talent for your project can be a daunting task. From search results to mega-sites that offer overwhelming cattle-call auditions, to local casting agencies, PR firms and even signs nailed to telephone polls, the potential results for a simple query such as “voice over talent” can be overwhelming.

Consider this:

Voice Over Talent searches on Google return over 11 million results!

That is more search results than we would probably care to weed through to say the least. And while many of the sites listed in the search results provide useful information to voice over talent, like voiceoverclub.com, that is really outside of the scope of your search.

So how then do you, dear searcher and future procure-er of voice over talent, navigate your way through this incredibly large web of options?

In this first post we will make a few suggestions to help you through.

Suggestion #1: First define what you are looking for. This step is often overlooked and talent searchers will start looking for voice over talent before they’ve defined what they’re looking for. The smoothest-run projects seem to have a clear understanding of the talent they’re targeting.

Suggestion #2: Cast a narrow net! This may seem counter-intuitive, but often there are multiple individuals who will fill your role nicely and by not trying to interview every one of the 28 million results for voice over talent, you’ll save yourself quite a bit of time and a whopping headache!

Suggestion #3: Ask for recommendations. Friends and co-workers, people in the media industry on your facebook friend list or LinkedIn connections probably know a voice over talent or two. Tap your personal network to give you leads. Also ask the potential voice over talent hopefuls for referrals of media folk they’ve been hired by to get a feel for what to expect when working with that individual.

Voice Over Talent At Your Fingertips – (oops, this is suggestion #4)

Most actors pursuing a voice over career are plugged into social media and have audio samples available online. Utilize this to speed your selection process and quickly listen to potential talent and move forward quickly with your project.

Voice Over Talent Kate WirthWe hope this helps you on your quest to find the perfect voice over talent for your project. Check back often and we’ll post more [hopefully] helpful information designed to take the pain out of picking the best talent.

Thanks for Listening!
